Welcome from the International Business Director
International Business (IB) is a multidisciplinary Bachelor of Commerce major that draws from most Commerce areas of study. This means that you will complete a range of courses from all College of Business and Economics departments.
As the International Business Director, I'm here to help plan your degree and answer your questions. Staff from the Departments of Management, and Economics and Finance are also available for advice.
If you are interested in studying IB, then gaining international experience will be an important focus for you. There are three great ways to gain this experience while studing at UC.
- International exchange
Spending a semester or a year abroad as part of your UC degree is an opportunity not to be missed. The IB major is designed to make it easy for you to go on exchange in semester two of your second year of study (you will need to apply by 1 August in your first year at UC). For further information consult the interactive degree plans for the IB major.
- MGMT 228 - Chinese Business Practices and Culture (study tour)
If your interest is China, you may like to enrol in MGMT 228 a summer school course that includes a three-week study tour to the cities Hangzhou and Shanghai, China. This course is offered in November-December summer school.
- International events on campus (UCSA)
Making friends with some of our international students and/or exchange students is another great way to gain an international experience right here on campus. To help you do this, we will arrange several events throughout the year. Keep a look-out for notices on this webpage as well as the UCSA website.
