We are in the business of educating tomorrow's professionals, entrepreneurs and corporate workforce. Quality teaching and research must be carried out in association with the communities our graduates will enter. For us, engagement with the community adds value and relevance to the teaching and learning experience and research work of both staff and students.
The College of Business and Law Advisory Board provides strategic advice and guidance to the Dean and senior management of the College, and assists the College to build effective links with the business and professional communities.
The Student Development Society (SDS) International Business Case Competition involves teams of students from six New Zealand universities who compete against each other in national competitions before joining six international teams in the finals. This is a invaluable opportunity for our students to build confidence, develop team and leadership skills and sharpen their analytical and presentation skills, as they work on innovative solutions to a real-life business scenario. Industry experts and local businesses provide advice, mentoring support and networking opportunities.
The BCom internship programme covers a range of professional fields including Marketing, Management Strategy, and Human Resources. The internships are project-based Stage 3 university courses for credit and provide support to organisations for current projects or for future wish-list projects. Students are exposed to real life challenges and gain work experience, through the process of addressing a defined business problem on-site in a business or organisation.
