  • Understanding UC regulations and processes
  • Accessing appropriate resources around your study (e.g. extra tuition, study groups, Academic Skills Centre)
  • Accessing broader UC services such as accommodation, career advice, immigration, student clubs)
  • Seeking solutions to disputes

Māori and Pasifika Student Support

There are numerous support programmes, mentoring and fun activities for Māori and Pasifika students at UC.

The Pacific Development Team runs many events throughout the University year. Pasifika Welcome is our first major event and is for all Pacific students and their families. Jandals, the Pasifika Postgraduate Symposium and the Achievers Evening are some of the things students can look forward to during the year. To find out more about these events as well as the Pacific Mentoring Programme visit their website: www.canterbury.ac.nz/pacificstudents/

The Māori Development Team offers a wide range of support programmes and services for all UC Māori students. UC is committed to contributing to the development of Māori students undertaking university study and supporting their achievement of iwi aspirations. Activities include the Māori Leadership Programme (a peer buddy support system for new UC Māori students) and Māori Academic Support.
