About ACIS
The Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS)
is the premier conference in Australasian for Information
Systems academics, covering technical, organisational, industry
and social issues in the application of Information Technology
(IT) to real world problems. In 2008, the 19th ACIS will be
held in Christchurch, hosted by the College of Business and
Economics of the University
of Canterbury. The conference will be held December 3-5, at
The
Rydges Christchurch, New Zealand.
Since its emergence in the early 1980s, the discipline of
Information systems has faced many challenges. One such challenge
is how to make research relevant to practice. In other words,
how can the ideas and findings of today's researchers and
academics be translated into real world solutions for businesses,
government, and society. It is this challenge that provides
the impetus for our theme for 2008:
"Creating the Future: Transforming Research into Practice"
Today's ideas are tomorrow's applications
We therefore invite submissions from our colleagues and
industry partners across Australia, New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific
and beyond to present new ideas, to discuss current issues
and trends, and strengthen the links between research and
Practice.
Together, let us make ACIS2008 a success. We look forward
to your participation and meeting you in Christchurch,
the "Garden City" of New Zealand!
